Section 4 - First Aid Measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures:

Inhalation: No need for first aid is anticipated under normal usage (single exposure of small amount. If necessary, move person into fresh air. Seek medical attention if necessary.

Skin Contact: Do not pull bonded skin apart as bonded skin can be easily torn. Soak in warm soapy water while flexing bonded skin followed by gently peeling skin apart. If skin is burnt due to the heat generated during the rapid polymerization of a large drop, seek medical attention. If lips are bonded apply warm water to the lips and encourage the use of saliva to wet the interior. Gently peel or roll the lips apart. Do not use direct opposing force to peel the lips apart.

Eye Contact: Immediately flush with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention. If eyes are bonded closed, apply warm water using a wet pad to release eyelashes. Do not force eye open. Cyanoacrylates will cause a lachrymatory effect which will help to de-bond the adhesive. Keep the eye covered until de-bonding is completed usually 1- 3 days. Get medical attention to make sure cured adhesive is not trapped behind eyelid.

Ingestion: Keep individual calm. Make sure breathing passageways not abstracted. The product will polymerize almost instantaneously bonding the mouth making it almost impossible to swallow. Saliva will de-bond and separate any cured material in several hours. Prevent patient from swallowing any separated cured material.

4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

The most important known symptoms and effects are described in section 2 and section 11.

4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically and supportively. Surgery is not necessary to separate accidentally bonded tissues. Experience has shown that bonded tissues are best treated by passive non-surgical first aid. If rapid curing has caused thermal burn they should be treated symptomatically after adhesive is removed.

Section 5 - Fire-Fighting Measures

5.1 Suitable Extinguishing Media: Water fog, foam, dry chemical, or CO2. Do not use a solid water stream as may scatter or spread fire. Use water fog to cool the unopened containers involved in fire.

5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Liquid and vapor are flammable. Vapor is heavier than air and can travel considerable distance to a source ignition and flashback. Vapors may form explosive mixture with air. Containers may explode when heated. Gives off irritating fumes (or gases) and combustion product (Carbon oxides, Nitrogen oxides, Hydrogen chloride, etc.) in a fire.

5.3 Advice for firefighters

Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Fight fire from a safe distance. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective equipment for fire fighting

Section 6 - Accidental Release Measures

For guidance on selection of personal protective equipment see Chapter 8 of this Material Safety Data Sheet. See Chapter 13 for information on disposal. Observe the relevant local and international regulations.

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Remove all fire sources. Ensure adequate ventilation. Use protective gloves and other suitable protective equipment if necessary.

6.2 Environmental  precautions:

No special environmental precautions required. Do not release large amount of product to environment.

6.3 Methods and materials  for containment and cleaning up:

Small Spill: Absorb with towel or other inert adsorption material.

Large Spill: Flammable liquid. KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT. KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT SOURCES OF IGNITION. Stop leak if without risk. Contain spillage, and then collect with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and place in closed container. Prevent entry into sewers, basements, or confined areas. Absorb residue with dry earth, sand, or other non-combustible material.

Section 7 - Handling and Storage

7.1 Precautions for safe handling:

Use according identified usage in well-ventilated condition

Minimize skin contact. Keep out of reach of children.

Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. Protect from rain and direct sunlight.

Keep container tightly closed when not in-use.

For more precautions see section 2.

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Keep container tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Keep away from sources of ignition, overheat and direct sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children.

Section 8 - Exposure Controls / Personal Protection

Exposure Controls: Use in a well ventilated area. Normal measures for fire prevention

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory Protection: Normally none is required when adequate ventilation is provided. Wear suitable respiratory protective equipment in emergency.

Eyes Protection: No special requirements with normal consumer use. In production, wear suitable eye protection equipment.
